A very odd little piece of drama happened over the weekend, the popular Youtube Channel Lofi Girl was hit with copyright strikes on two of their most popular live stream music videos and it was found that the accusations were sent by Malaysian record label FMC Music Sdn Bhd Malaysia.
Thankfully Youtube has confirmed on Twitter that these were false copyright strikes and that the videos will be reinstated shortly.

The Lofi Girl channel is known for its relaxing lofi music set to ghibli-esque anime art. Many fans use their music while they study or rest. One of their music video streams had been going on for over two years before this copyright strike forced it to end.
FMC (Fantasia Music City) Music Sdn Bhd Malaysia is a popular Malaysia Record Label. The tweet from Youtube seems to imply that their own Youtube account will be terminated as punishment for the false accusation. However, as of this article, their official account is still operational. Perhaps it’ll be taken down in the next few days, we’ll have to see.
Some netizens on r/Malaysia have suggested that the account that made the copyright strike was not the official FMC account but rather an impersonator using a throwaway account.
Regardless, at least the issue with Lofi Girl has been resolved and their removed videos should find their way back to Youtube shortly.
