The staff behind the Kaguya Sama: Ultra Romantic anime have announced that the anime will be getting a movie, titled The First Kiss Never Ends.
While fans had long suspected a movie was in the list of animated projects involving the series, the official announcement was made in the most recent Newtype Magazine.
Unlike many an anime movie designed to take place in the land of non-canon, The First Kiss Never Ends is a direct continuation of the season finale of Kaguya Sama: Ultra Romantic, based on the manga arc of the same name.
It follows the characters celebrating Christmas following the successful Cultural Festival, and as each of the main cast engage in their own shenanigans over the festive season.
The season finale for Ultra Romantic was widely well-received, with fans rating the anime as the top anime of all time on MAL shortly after the double-episode special, overtaking Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood.
The marketing team for the franchise had also gone into overdrive promoting the series, with giant ads in train station promoting the season finale which ended with a teaser for a future animation project.
Kaguya Sama Wants To Be Confessed To: A Genius’ War Of Love And Brains is a manga following two veritable genius highschoolers, Miyuki Shirogane and Kaguya Shinomiya, as they go about enacting elaborate schemes to get the other to confess romantic feelings to them first.
The manga had recently announced that it was already winding down to its conclusion, with about 14 chapters left til the end.
