South Korean developer A.Storm has announced a new game called ‘Building and Fighter’ which will mix a traditional fighting game with GPS gameplay similar to Pokemon Go.
Here is the trailer for the alpha build to give you further insight into the game:
“Grow your organization and occupy the land of Korea! Wonderful action unfolds with a range of various characters. With colorful GPS content that is linked to the actual player’s location, the game provides a new experience of occupying real buildings and territories in Korea. Right now, faster than anyone else, Experience the new GPS action game, Building & Fighter.”
Gamebase says that players in Building and Fighter can travel around their town using GPS tracking and fight over real-world landmarks similar to the gyms in Pokemon Go. The main difference from Pokemon Go is that combat will be done in the style of a traditional 2.5D fighting game. Players can fight solo or work with other users to expand their territory together.
Occupying territories will also net you the in-game currency that you can use to purchase and collect new characters.
It’s an interesting concept that hasn’t really been tackled before. The closest game I can think of to it is Super Street Fighter IV: 3D Edition which had a feature that allowed players to use the 3DS’ Street Pass Function to match with other players that they passed while walking around.
You can sign up for The Building and Fighter Alpha Test on the game’s official website from today up until the 31st of July, although it is currently only available in South Korea.
