Black Stella: Inferno has announced a launch date in Japan! Previously known simply as Black Stella, the game project has since been revived with the Inferno sub-name and will launch 22 June 2022, JST.
If you weren’t aware, the game was originally cancelled back in September 2020, under Fuji Games’ management. The revival saw the return of the previously announced staff members, including:
- Worldview Setting: Takaaki Suzuki (Girls und Panzer)
- Scenario: Fumiaki Maruto (Saekano), Tappei Nagatsuki (Re:Zero), Yoshiaki Inaba (Lugalgigam)
- Character Design: Oguchi
As the story goes, a mysterious explosion rocks Tokyo in 1999, and the city has been battered by catastrophes one after another. A monster ends up swallowing the entire Minato Ward… and in the year 2049, Tokyo has been cut off from the rest of Japan and the world. The story is also said to be based on Dante’s “Divine Comedy”.
The game will be shifting from its original turn-based gameplay with 2D characters, to becoming a multiplayer real-time battler to better fit the concept of defending Tokyo from whatever monster there may be. With the shift, the character models have also been redesigned. The game is meant to have a greater focus on community, and will include many socializing features where people can gather to chat and such.
Pre-registrations remain open, where players can obtain premium currency for the gacha and a character skin, with maximum milestone rewards available at 100,000 users, currently at 30,000.
