The new trailer for Final Fantasy 16 during State of Play June 2022 revealed a bunch of new details for the game, such as its release window. The game will be coming out in summer 2023.
We also had a look at some of the gameplay, characters and iconic summons from the Final Fantasy franchise that will appear in the game. Feel free to check them out yourself in the trailer below:
Unlike Final Fantasy 15 which is clearly set in modern times, Final Fantasy 16 appears to take place in a medieval setting of sorts. The game also features action RPG mechanics like Final Fantasy 15, but whether players can teleport and zip around the map as effortlessly as Noctis remains to be seen. The game does appear to be more fast-paced than Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin based on the trailer.
Some of the Eikons (summons) seen in the trailer include:
- Phoenix
- Titan
- Garuda
- Ramuh
- Shiva
- Odin
- Bahamut
- Ifrit
According to Final Fantasy 16 Producer Naoki-P:
The team, under direction of Hiroshi Takai, has entered the final leg of development and is focusing on polish as they continue their march toward master up and launch. I, for one, would like to personally thank them for all the hard work they’ve put into the project.
With the power of the PlayStation 5 behind us, we’re looking to take you on a seamless, story-driven, white-knuckle ride that will rival even the most thrilling roller-coaster. So buckle up, the wait is almost over!
