LINE: Monster Rancher accepting closed beta applications

LINE: Monster Rancher, a new standalone, mobile entry in the Monster Rancher series, has begun accepting applications for closed beta testers. Applications will be accepted from 6 May 2022 to 17 May 2022, 23:59 JST. The test itself is scheduled for 24 May 2022, 15:00 JST to 1 June 2022, 23:59 JST. Data will not be carried over to the full release.

As you might expect, the LINE: Monster Rancher closed beta is aimed towards Japanese users, with a limit of 5000 players – 2500 each for iOS and Android. Recommended specifications are listed as:

• iOS: OS 13.0 or later, iPhone 8 or later, 2GB RAM or more
• Android: OS 9 or later, 64-bit compatible, 4GB RAM or more

Going by the preview above, there appears to be some form of gacha in the game. If you’re unfamiliar with the Monster Rancher series, Monster Farm (as it’s known in Japan) has a unique mechanic where you can essentially “generate” monsters with CDs or DVDs for the console versions. The LINE version will allow you to generate monsters using people in your LINE contacts list, or from picking the daily random appearances in the friend’s list. As such, one might assume the gacha is meant to facilitate those who don’t have many contacts and just want to get the monsters quickly.
