Bilibili‘s Black Surge Night has announced its end of service for its Japanese server. The announcement can be found on its official Twitter account, with more “details” available in-game, or through the website’s news post here.
Black Surge Night will officially end service on 30 June 2022, 12:00 JST. In-app purchases will be disabled post the 26 April maintenance. As is usually the case, users in Japan may opt to ask for refunds starting 1 July 2022, 12:00 JST, with the cutoff date being 31 August 2022, 23:59 JST. The refunds will only be applicable to any remaining paid currency at end of service.
For the curious, the game takes place in a universe where a disaster has covered much of the land in water. In the struggle to adapt to the change, “dolls” with intelligence and equipped with armaments were created to obtain resources, who were, in essence, personifications of ships as cute girls. Conflicts are fought with the use of these Dolls, naturally. Somehow, a mutation occurs in these Dolls, and they are then dismantled, but those who have escaped such a fate now seek revenge. You will need to take command and fight back against the Dolls.
It launched 20 May 2021 in Japan, making it last just barely a year. We’ll have to see if they decide to run any kind of anniversary events to go out with a bang, or a whimper.
