Touhou Arcadia Record is an upcoming mobile game from KLab and DAMO GAMES. The title is an “officially recognized” game in the general Touhou Project verse, though this apparently doesn’t mean much. A promotional trailer has been released alongside the announcement, seen below:
An official website, Twitter and Youtube channel for Touhou Arcadia Record has been established, which you can check out here, here and here respectively. Pre-registrations are being accepted simultaneously, with the game expected to launch sometime 2022.
Going by the 4Gamer release, this will be a side-scrolling shoot-em-up, where you’ll find yourself taking on the role of an amnesiac hero who knows of nothing except to “record” things in the closed off, fantasy land of Gensokyo. The gameplay sounds incredibly reminiscent of a previously announced KLab Touhou Project game, which was supposed to be made in partnership with Dobala Games, with a slightly different plot. It’s unclear if the Dobala title will materialize or has been repackaged into this instead, considering it had a slight implication of going global.
In any case, more details are promised to come, as the pre-registration rewards haven’t been revealed either. Until then, we can hope for more of them to be available worldwide.
