The much anticipated Legend of Zelda: Breath of The Wild Sequel has been delayed to a spring 2023 release date.
This was confirmed in a video posted by Nintendoover social media featuring Zelda producer Eiji Aonuma who explained that the developers at Nintendo EPD required more time to further work on the game.
“In order to make this game’s experience something special the entire team is working dilligently on this game, so please wait a little longer”.
The unititled sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of The Wild was first announced at the E3 2017 Nintendo Direct however very little of the game has been shown since. The game did resurface at Nintendo’s E3 2021 direct where early footage of the game was shown.
Aonuma explained that for the sequel, playes would not only travel through an open world but through the skies above as well, reminiscent of The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword.
“the setting for the adventure has been expanded to include the skies above Hyrule“
Most fans have been accepting of the news, many adhering to the famous quote by Zelda series creator Shigeru Miyamoto, “a delayed game may eventually be good, a rushed game is forever bad.”
While this phrase has become more detbatable in recent years, the core idea stands strong. If The Breath of The Wild sequel requires more time to polish, I’m sure fans can wait for a few more months.
The Legend of Zelda Breath of The Wild sequel will be released in Spring of 2023.
