As of 4 March 2022, Black Stella: Inferno has begun accepting pre-registrations for its upcoming release in Japan. The announcement also comes with a new teaser trailer, as well as the release of image songs on the official website.
The game is presently still planned for release in Spring 2022, once again only in Japan as far as its known. Much like other mobile games, Black Stella: Inferno has milestone rewards for the number of pre-registrations, currently going up to 100,000. You’ll get currency to gacha at least 50 times and a character skin at 100,000.
Hopefully the rebirth of this project will go through much more smoothly. If you weren’t aware, Black Stella was a project originally conceived much earlier with a planned launch in June 2019, before it was ultimately postponed indefinitely and finally cancelled. Back then, it hit 150,000 pre-registrations, so presumably, it shouldn’t be too hard for the game to reach that again.
The change in management has also seen a shift, from a 2D turn-based battler to a multiplayer real-time battler, with changes to the art and assets accordingly. Creators previously named in the project have returned, including Takaaki Suzuki (Girls und Panzer), Fumiaki Maruto (Saekano), Tappei Nagatsuki (Re:Zero), Yoshiaki Inaba (Lugalgigam) and Oguchi, with other writers also noted to be contributing to the scenario.
It presumably won’t be too long before the game launches, so keep an eye out.
