The Digimon Con live stream has kick-off with Q&A surrounding the long-awaited Digimon Survive, unfortunately, this talk started with an apology that fans would have to wait a little bit longer for a release date.
Producer Kazumasa Habu said that it will “take a little longer,” since the development team is “adjusting internally” to figure out a release period. He apologized for all the delays and the lack of information.
He did however also say that development was going smoothly and showcased a new trailer for the game with gameplay footage.
He noted that there was a change in the development team that led to them needing to “rework on the game” however these seem to have been resolved now.
Twitter user @TheWindragon24 further found that the developer for Digimon Survive had changed from Witchcraft to HYDE, who had previously worked on Final Fantasy XV, Rune Factory, and Hakuoki. This is likely the development change Habu was referring to and a major reason for the game’s delay.
Just to let you know, it seems the developer of Digimon Survive has been changed from Witchcraft into HYDE. This is the main reason Survive have so much delay. Here I also provide the track record with https://t.co/wdbXglABYH. Seems more reliable developer pic.twitter.com/UL31vtzxcG

The Digimon Con Q&A did reveal new details about Digimon Survive during the live stream. Habu said that the game would be split into 12 chapters and have three potential routes, with a total game time of around 80-100 hours to complete all routes. There will be four difficulty modes for the game: very easy, easy, normal, hard.
The game will be around 30% strategy gameplay and 70% visual novel. Depending on your choices in the game, certain characters will live or die. There will be a total of 113 playable Digimon in the game.
Digimon Survive was announced back in 2018 and will combine strategy RPG elements with a visual novel style story. The plot will revolve around a group of school kids in summer camp, during an incident they find themselves trapped in the Digital World and must find a way to survive the wild Digimon that live there.
The last delay of Digimon Survive stated that it would release in 2022. The game has appeared on multiple rating boards which implies that there are working playable versions of the game.
Digimon Survive will be available for the Nintendo Switch, Playstation 4, Xbox One, and Pc.
