Former Hololive Vtuber Uruha Rushia was terminated was because of information leaked to streamer Korekore, new information shows.
During her hiatus following the row, The performer behind Rushia reportedly tried to reach out to Korekore to clear her name.
Due to the pseudonymous nature of being a Vtuber, however, she provided sensitive information to verify her identity so Korekore would take her seriously.
The contents of these verifications are largely speculation, but it seems to be widely agreed upon that at the very least, it included conversations with Rushia’s manager.
For anyone else unfamiliar with Korekore, the term “Japanese Keemstar” gets thrown around, marking him as less of a news source and more of a gossip monger.
Rather than have any shred of integrity in protecting your sources, Korekore immediately told his audience that he’d been talking with Rushia, explaining all the information which she sent to him.
This apparently included photos of her room, as well as a more in-depth explanation that she really wasn’t dating fellow livestreamer Mafumafu.
As fans have pointed out, COVER Corporation had known about this for a while- their first statement following the Rushia debacle mentions they were investigating a “leakage of information including those of fellow business correspondents”.
Considering the open nature secret of many Vtuber’s real identities, it seems no one picked up that Rushia was the one being investigated, rather than a case of fans threatening to dox her in the middle of the uproar.
As we now know, this was a major violation of Cover Corp’s contract, and Rushia was thusly terminated. Her fellow 3rd gen members issued a statement together last night on the matter, which you can see here:
Knowing this information, COVER’s termination notice for Rushia seems significantly less PR-speak and more an actually clear description of what went down. From a purely objective sense, it’s understandable- their talent broke her contract, which the company, while still investigating this, still threw themselves behind her to show support until their investigation was done.
