UPDATE: We have an updated tier list for That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime ISEKAI Memories for the current month. Read it here.
Note that this tier list is for Battle Characters in Slime ISEKAI Memories. For Protection Characters, you should be using the one that gives increased elemental damage according to the enemies’ weakness. Preferably, 5★ Protection Characters.
With that out of the way, let’s dive into the list:
SSS Tier
A new tier made for the truly overpowered amongst the overpowered.
[The Proud Dragon Demon Lord] Milim Nava
Element: Space | Damage type: Physical | Secret Skill: Single-target
Octagram Milim is basically flawless. She possesses a higher Secret Skill damage multiplier and ATK than anyone else, the second-highest HP in the game, an incredible self-buff and an okay-ish team buff. Damage, support and even tank (somewhat)—she can do everything.
However, it is her damage that makes her the undisputed strongest character in this Slime ISEKAI Memories tier list. Her low SP cost first skill guarantees that her attacks will pierce. Combine that with another powerful team-wide buff from characters like Space Rimuru or New Year’s Milim, and you have easily the highest damage potential in the game.
SS Tier
The best of the best—their skill sets put them above all the other characters.
[The Enthusiastic Player] Milim Nava
Element: Fire | Damage type: Physical | Secret Skill: Single-target
The newest addition in this month of January, New Year’s Milim aka Fire Milim is in my opinion, the second best character in the game behind Octagram Milim. Stat-wise, she has high ATK. Her first skill basically guarantees your team will always crit and is tied with Wind Milim and Space Rimuru for the best team-wide buff. However, unlike those two, [The Enthusiastic Player] Milim Nava has a single-target ultimate, making her perfect against bosses, which makes up the endgame content.
[Dragon Majin] Milim Nava
Element: Wind | Damage type: Magical | Secret Skill: Multi-target
Why are so many of the Milims so OP?
Wind Milim’s first skill, Dragon Power, increases your Soul of Combos (aka ultimate) damage by a whopping 60%. This skill alone is one of the most busted skills in the game. Thanks to this skill, Wind Milim lets you clear stages well above the recommended EP and makes her useful in any element team. Just unleash three Secret Skills the same turn after activating this buff and watch as your enemies’ health disintegrate.
[Chancellor of Tempest] Rimuru Tempest
Element: Space | Damage type: Physical | Secret Skill: Multi-target
After some testing, I’m moving Space Rimuru up from S tier to SS tier mainly for one reason—Octagram Milim. Previously, space-element teams lacked firepower. Now that Octagram Milim is here to provide that, Rimuru’s amazing ATK buff synergises too well.
Both of [Chancellor of Tempest] Rimuru Tempest skills are incredibly useful. All of Creation is the strongest ATK buff in the game, while Magic Sense is a 20% DEF buff that lasts two turns. When you have 6 of the same Souls, pop All of Creation for incredible damage. Because of this, Space Rimuru is the best buffer in the game and will fit into any team.
S Tier
Extremely useful characters who have a place even in teams that are not of their element.
[Seal Releaser] Veldora Tempest
Element: Dark | Damage type: Physical | Secret Skill: Multi-target
I moved Dark Veldora down as he’s basically a weaker version of Wind Milim. Previously, he was in the same tier, but now that New Year’s Milim has appeared in Slime ISEKAI Memories with a new broken buff and Space Rimuru has increased in relevance thanks to Octagram Milim, human form Veldora‘s inferior Wind Milim buff doesn’t cut it as much anymore for this tier list. Veldora can increase your Soul of Combos damage by 50% instead of Milim’s 60%. Even though it is 10% weaker, it is still very powerful.
Theoretically, it is possible to use both Veldora and Wind Milim’s skill in the same turn if you have more than 100 skill points (achievable through Protection Skills). Realistically, by the time you already activated the Divine Protection, have enough skill points AND filled enough characters’ Secret Skill gauge, using both Wind Milim and Veldora’s skill on the same turn is overkill. Use either Veldora or Wind Milim in your team, but not both at the same time.
[Lord of Darkness] Guy Crimson
Element: Fire | Damage type: Physical | Secret Skill: Multi-target
Guy appears to have taken notes from Veldora. Not only do both of them proudly display their abs, but they also have the same, inferior Wind Milim buff of increasing Soul of Combos damage. However, Guy’s buff is even weaker than Veldora’s buffing damage by 40% instead of Veldora’s 50%. As a trade-off, Veldora’s buff also has the added effect of reducing enemy crit resistance, so it’s not the end of the world.
[Lord of Darkness] Guy Crimson does make up for it with a useful DEF UP seal, which trivialises certain bosses in the game. On top of that, Guy does have the hardest hitting multi-target Secret Skill in the game, dealing 290% damage as opposed to others’ 270%.
[Budding of Deep Green] Treyni
Element: Earth | Damage type: Magical | Secret Skill: Single-target
Not only is Treyni the best healer in the game, but she also has a single target ultimate, making her perfect for many of the harder endgame content. She’s also an incredibly tanky character with high DEF and will save your team more often than you can count. Since a lot of the game’s missions require you to clear them without any character dying, Treyni will help you achieve that.
[Queen of Yule] Luminus Valentine
Element: Wind | Damage type: Physical | Secret Skill: Single-target
Luminus’ skill heals 5% less HP than Treyni’s, but also costs 5 Skill Points less, making her a fantastic alternative to Treyni. As a physical wind-element character with a single target nuke, this maid is a must-have support for wind teams, but also great for other elements. She’s also the only character in the game at the moment who can change 1 Soul of Divine Protection and 1 Soul of Secrets into up to 2 Soul of Skills.
[King of an Armed Nation] Gazel Dwargo
Element: Light | Damage type: Physical | Secret Skill: Single-target
Single target ultimate are generally better than multi-target ones because most of the game’s harder content features a single, powerful enemy instead of a group. Guess what? Gazel is the second-best single target nuker after Octagram Milim in the game. All of his buffs focus on increasing his offensive power (ATK, Crit rate and Crit damage). Above all else, his skills have very low cost, so you can activate expensive skills such as Space Rimuru or Wind Milim’s buff on the same turn to reach insane damage.
A Tier
Great characters who are the go-to picks for teams of their respective element.
[Instructor of the Flashing Sword] Hakurou
Element: Wind | Damage type: Physical | Secret Skill: Single-target
Hakurou is the definitive single target nuker for wind teams. Even though he has an amazing buff in the form of Keigoku, which reduces enemy DEF and increase your team’s Crit rate, its expensive cost means that you’ll rather be choosing Wind Milim or Space Rimuru’s buff 9/10 times. This is why I put Hakurou below Gazel in A tier as he has less synergy with the other top tier units. Still a great pick regardless.
[Conquerer of Flames] Shizue Izawa
Element: Fire | Damage type: Physical | Secret Skill: Single-target
Your single-target fire DPS, Shizu may not have crazy buffs like the other characters before her, but she has the great ability to change 2 Soul of Divine Protection into Soul of Secrets. Since the current meta favours Secret Skills, being able to build up your ultimate gauge faster is fantastic.
[The Black Progenitor] Diablo
Element: Dark | Damage type: Physical | Secret Skill: Single-target
The hardest-hitting single target nuker for dark teams. As we mentioned in our coverage of the Diablo event, he’s extremely similar to Gazel, just with lower ATK and with a Soul change instead of a second buff. If his Soul change changed 2 Souls instead of just 1, I would’ve put him in S tier with Gazel.
[Steel Annihilator] Shion
Element: Dark | Damage type: Physical | Secret Skill: Multi-target
Your multi-target dark DPS, Shion is one of the few units in the game who can buff pierce rate and power. While it’s a great buff, she has the same issue with Hakurou in that you’ll rather spend your Skill points on Wind Milim or Space Rimuru’s buff instead. In addition, there is less synergy for pierce, as compared to ATK or DMG buffs from multiple characters that stack.
Note that her pierce buff doesn’t work as well with Octagram Milim, who already has her own pierce self-buff.
[Arch Golem] Beretta
Element: Dark | Damage type: Physical | Secret Skill: Single-target
Beretta is the dark team’s single target nuker. She’s basically Shizu, but for dark teams.
[Harmonizer of Majin and Humans] Rimuru Tempest
Element: Water | Damage type: Magical | Secret Skill: Multi-target
Water Rimuru is the only character in the game who can reduce the enemy’s Soul of Secret gauge, effectively delaying the enemies’ ult by 1 or 2 turns. On top of that, he can also heal. While I’m sure some of you reading this may feel that Water Rimuru deserves to be placed higher on the tier list, hear me out.
While delaying an enemy’s ult can mean the difference between clearing or failing the mission, it’s simply not as synergistic of a strategy as stacking offensive buffs and finishing the enemy off. It also doesn’t happen often enough to make it as vital and when you do have a unit that’s in danger of dying to an ult, switching them out is the better, more cost-effective option. Treyni is higher due to how much more heals, plus she has a single-target nuke, as opposed to Water Rimuru’s multi-target ultimate.
[The Creator] Ramiris
Element: Wind | Damage type: Magical | Secret Skill: Multi-target
Considering how amazing her fellow Octagram partner is, Octagram Ramiris is a letdown. While she has the highest healing skill in the game, Treyni and Luminus are still better healers because of how ridiculously expensive the cost of her heal is. Sure, she can probably save your team from dying, but the SP is much better spent on powerful offensive buffs like Space Rimuru’s, New Year Milim’s or Wind Milim’s.
Combine that with a second skill that only increases the ATK of wind units (making her less relevant in other teams) and a less than desirable multi-target secret skill, and the only redeeming quality Ramiris has is that she is the tankiest character in the game.
[Captain of the Holy Knights] Hinata Sakaguchi
Element: Light | Damage type: Magical | Secret Skill: Single-target
As a Conquest boss, Hinata’s tankiness makes her a pain to deal with. As your party member, that tankiness is not as desirable. Sure, she can buff the team’s DEF by 35% for 1 turn, or change two different Souls into Soul of Secrets (like Luminus), but beyond that, you’ll mainly be relying on her single-target Secret Skill for your light team to complement Gazel’s incredible nuking power.
B Tier
You’ll still want these characters in teams of their respective elements, but their skills aren’t as useful as the other characters ranked higher in this Slime ISEKAI Memories tier list.
[Holy Princess] Shuna
Element: Light | Damage type: Magical | Secret Skill: Single-target
As a single-target nuker for light teams. [Holy Princess] Shuna can change your Soul of Secrets into Soul of Divine Protection. This is great for achieving higher DPS, but 9/10 times, Soul of Secrets is preferable as using ultimates are preferable to using Divine Protection.
[Date Night Beauty] Shizue Izawa
Element: Light | Damage type: Physical | Secret Skill: Multi-target
On paper, Valentine’s Shizu has two useful skills—a solid single-target heal and an ATK debuff, both of which are extremely cheap in cost. The problem is that she just has too low of an impact to be useful. There are other healers who can heal the entire team which is preferable over a single-target heal 9/10 times. Her ATK debuff also only lasts for one turn. Ultimately, you’ll want to spend your Skill Points on other characters whose skills provide greater greater impact in a fight.
[Spy in the Shadows] Souei
Element: Water | Damage type: Physical | Secret Skill: Single-target
Souei is the water team’s single-target DPS. Basically fills the same role as [Holy Princess] Shuna as he can change Soul of Secrets into Soul of Skills.
[Samurai General of Hellfire] Benimaru
Element: Fire | Damage type: Magical | Secret Skill: Multi-target
Benimaru is a great multi-target fire DPS. His buff lets him increase his own ATK which is great for finishing off multiple enemies. Sadly, there is not enough multi-enemy endgame content that is difficult enough to warrant Benimaru a higher placing in the tier list.
[Awakened Demon Lord] Rimuru Tempest
Element: Dark | Damage type: Magical | Secret Skill: Multi-target
Demon Lord Rimuru is an amazing dark-element magical unit with an incredible self-buff that increases both his crit rate and crit damage. He’ll easily rank higher on the tier list if his ultimate hits a single target, but because it is multi-target, he shares the same problem with [Samurai General of Hellfire] Benimaru.
[One of the Oldest Demon Lords] Milim Nava
Element: Earth | Damage type: Physical | Secret Skill: Multi-target
The earth team’s multi-target DPS, Earth Milim is vastly overshadowed by her Wind variant. She can change Soul of Secrets into Soul of Divine Protection while her other skill buffs the team DEF, making her basically a carbon copy of Souei.
[Manifestation of the Dragon] Milim Nava
Element: Dark | Damage type: Magical | Secret Skill: Single-target
A magical damage, dark character with a single target nuke, Dark Milim has the same soul change as her earth version, but with a worse second skill that raises her team’s critical resistance while also buffing her own critical rate.
[Tempest Star Wolf] Ranga
Element: Space | Damage type: Magical | Secret Skill: Multi-target
A multi-target space DPS, Ranga also features a Soul-changing skill, capable of changing Soul of Secrets into Soul of Skills. Unfortunately, his other skill, which buffs pierce rate, is rather underwhelming.
[Captain of the Goblin Riders] Gobta
Element: Fire | Damage type: Physical | Secret Skill: Single-target
Like most of the others on this tier, Gobta has a Soul Change and an okay-ish buff which enhances crit rate. If you have no other useful units to fill in for your fire team, [Captain of the Goblin Riders] Gobta is your man.
[The True Butler] Veldora Tempest
Element: Wind | Damage type: Physical | Secret Skill: Single-target
Butler Veldora has a Soul change and a pretty worthless buff that reduces enemy pierce power. His biggest saving grace is his high ATK and single-target Secret Skill.
C Tier
These characters have noticeably lower stats than the ones in the tiers above, or provide less impact.
[Master of Maids] Rimuru Tempest
Element: Wind | Damage type: Physical | Secret Skill: Single-target
Maid Rimuru is an extremely defensive support character. The biggest issue is that his kit has no synergy whatsoever. He’s the only character who can increase Max HP, but it’s somewhat wasted as it requires a heal in order to make use of it. At least the same skill increases DEF for 3 turns.
His second skill increases guard power, but is also practically worthless without another character buffing guard rate. As it stands, he’s only useful for increasing your team’s DEF, a role that can be comfortably performed by Space Rimuru and other 4★ characters.
[Pink Ogre of Holy Light] Shuna
Element: Wind | Damage type: Magical | Secret Skill: Multi-target
Everyone gets [Pink Ogre of Holy Light] Shuna as a pre-registration reward. She has the lowest stats out of all the 5★ characters, but still makes a good pick for wind teams. She can change Soul of Divine Protection into Soul of Skills.
D tier
All other 4★ and 3★ Battle Characters belong here. You can still use them in your teams as the game is PVE and not PVP-focused. Generally, you’ll want to use the characters above, though, due to superior stats and skills.
