Hatsune Miku has become the latest in a list of Japanese icons collaborating with Magic: The Gathering (MtG) ahead of the release for Kamigawa: Neon Dynasty.
MtG released a new music video produced by MWK, featuring vocals by Hatsune Miku to promote the upcoming expansion for the popular card game.
The music video features multiple key illustrations from the Kamigawa set, as well as Miku practicing bad deck practices by dropping all her cards into a void, likely spurred by someone hitting her with a Blue Instant and making her discard all of them anyways.
That being said, there’s been no word yet on if the world’s favorite vocaloid would also be coming as a special alternative art for any of the set’s cards.
This has been just one of many collaborations with Japanese artists to promote Kamigawa: Neon Dynasty, which is set in a futuristic Japan-inspired location.
The others have come in the form of special variant cards, such as those by Metal Gear Solid artist Yoji Shinkawa, as well as Fist of the North Star artist Tetsuo Hara., as well as traditional Ukiyo-E illustrations for the game’s Land cards.
It’s also not the first time MtG has collaborated with a musical artist- previously, they’d also announced a collaboration with rapper Post Malone for their Secret Lair line of limited release cards.
