Netmarble revealed through their Netmarble Together with Press event, Seven Deadly Sins Origin. This game is apparently styled as a sequel to the existing Seven Deadly Sins: Grand Cross, a turn-based gacha RPG. Citing limitations in fully expressing the scale of the IP in Grand Cross, the new game will purportedly better capture the manga / anime series’ world. A teaser can be seen below:
Seven Deadly Sins Origin is developed as an open world game, with an original story based on its source material. Explore the world of Britannia, and eventually find yourself embroiled in the plot. You’ll be able to freely move around the world and partake in real time battles.
You can basically see it as a licensed version of Genshin Impact, exploring the world as some of the characters you may already know and love instead of a new property. The game is planned for release on PC, mobile and console, but whether it will be a simultaneous launch, or when it might actually be available, has not been specified.
Netmarble has been taking on quite a few of these larger, open world projects, such as Ni no Kuni: Cross Worlds, and Marvel Future Revolution, so this is well within their capabilities. The former game has yet to be confirmed for a global release while the latter is available worldwide, so stay tuned to see where Seven Deadly Sins stands.
