Sonic is Getting a Tiktok Collab Effect

Tiktok is collaborating with Sega to create a Sonic Game Effect on the social media platform. This will be available starting from January 11th, 2022, and is exclusive to Japan (but I doubt that’s something a VPN can’t get around).

This is a collaboration between Tiktok, Sega, and the Japanese pop band Dreams Come True. Using the effect will involve using your face to control Sonic as he runs across the screen.

In the background, Dreams Come True’s song “Tsugi wa Se~no de! On The Green Hill – Masado & Miwasco Version” will play. This is a vocal cover/remix of the iconic green hill zone theme from the original Sonic The Hedgehog.

There are also prizes for using the effect. If you upload a Tiktok using the Sonic effect and then use the tag #tiktokでゲーム中 or #ソニックラン, you are eligible to enter a lucky draw. Two winners can get a set of Sonic merchandise goods including a t-shirt, mug, towel, can badges, and key holders. Eight winners can also get one of these five prizes.

The contest is in part to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Sonic The Hedgehog. Other events happening to celebrate the blue blurs birthday is the release of the Sonic 2 movie.

The Sonic Game Tiktok Effect will be available from now until the 11th of February.
