Nona Ouroboros has ended, meaning it’s time to welcome a new event (and Construct) to Punishing Gray Raven, Kowloong Metropolis! The event will be ongoing until January 25, 2022.
Like with most of our previous event guides, we’ll go through the content offered in this new event, as well as how to prepare for it.
Kowloong Metropolis Event Overview
Just like Nona Ouroboros before it, this event adds only one new Construct—Lucia: Plume, an S-rank Attacker Construct. Plume is the first ice-element unit in the game and will continue to be the top ice DPS character long into the future. As such, she is more or less mandatory for ice Warzone.
As with the previous S-rank event Constructs, the only way to obtain Lucia: Plume is through the event banner. For F2P players, make extra sure that you do not accidentally pull on the wrong banner. You’re guaranteed to get her in 60 pulls (15,000 Black Cards). We’ll post a guide for her once she’s available a day after Kowloong Metropolis is added in Punishing Gray Raven, so stay tuned!
Like all the other events before it, Kowloong Metropolis also introduces a new chapter to the game’s story. For F2P players, we do not recommend clearing it right away as it’s a permanent addition to the game and not time-limited—it’s better to save your Serum for the event stages. The only exception would be if you need the few extra Black Cards from completing the stages, for whatever reason.
Firmus
The main event stage for Kowloong Metropolis, this is where you’ll be doing the majority of your grinding in. Firmus is practically the exact equivalent of Cornered In Cruise from Nona Ouroboros. Be sure to get to Commandant level 40 as soon as possible as that is the minimum level required to take part in the event. The big difference this time around is that Firmus doesn’t have an Abyss Mode, so no guaranteed random Memories for this event.
You’ll be farming for “Crystal Notes“, the event currency this time around. Authority Levels also return as part of the event mechanic. Completing event stages will earn you experience that increases your Authority Level, which grants you various buffs.
Event stages are also very simple:
- Farm TPB-1/3/5/7/9 for Green Beetles
- Farm TPB-2/4/6/8/10 for 6-star Memories (not recommended)
Event Shop – Kowloong Market
The event shop this time around is called Kowloong Market. Since you cannot farm for Lucia: Plume shards as she’s an S-rank Construct, the main Memory to farm for is Zu Wenyuan, a 6★ Memory that is great for ice-element Constructs. While Plume doesn’t need Zu Wenyuan (there are better Memory sets for her), other upcoming Constructs like Changyu and Wanshi will benefit from the Memory. In particular, S Chrome who is currently the best ice tank in the Chinese version of the game, uses Zu Wenyuan.
There are also other Memories in the event shop, such as Liv: Reindeer and Lucia: Summer Daze. Note that these are 5★ Memories and not exactly meta. Feel free to obtain them for collection purposes, but don’t expect to get a lot of mileage with them if you decide to equip them in your Memory Sets.
Other items that you can get for collection purposes include Star of Bethlehem, a 5★ for Kamui (again, not the best weapon to use in a mission) as well as Weapon Coating Blueprints. These are basically skins, but for weapons instead of Constructs. Besides that, there are also Dorm decor items. Once you have everything you need, feel free to spend your remaining Crystal Notes on resources that you need.
Overclocking Resonance
Overclocking Resonance is a new feature that is used to strengthen your Memories in Punishing Gray Raven. While Resonance is for upgrading skills corresponding to a Construct, Overclocking Resonance is for increasing the stats provided from the Memory itself. Instead of using duplicates of the same Memory, Overclocking Resonance requires its own special resource. Rexlent uploaded a concise and helpful guide on Overclocking Resonance, which you can watch above.
To sum up your approach to Overclocking Resonance, you can get most of the required materials from the new modes, Phalanx and Joint Warfare. Both of these modes do not require Serum. Note that when for Constructs that deal elemental damage specifically, you’ll want to prioritise Overclocking the Memories in slots 4,5 and 6. The top row Memories are optional for elemental Constructs as they buff crit—a stat that is rather useless on elemental Constructs.
Other Content
This section will touch on the other modes and content that will be part of Kowloong Metropolis.
As mentioned previously, Phalanx and Joint Warfare are two new modes that do not require Serum. Be sure to complete them every day for Overclocking Resource materials. They’re not as complicated as APUS/Path of Stars or Babel Tower, so they should be pretty straightforward.
Duel! Osiris adds a new difficulty to the Osiris boss in Co-op, while Confrontation is basically the Boss challenge stage for this event, similar to Huaxu for Nona Ouroboros. Be sure to beat the boss, Gabriel, in all 5 stages to get Black Cards and Dragon Jades.
Dragon Jades are the resource that is used for event milestone rewards, similar to Electronic Stamps in the previous event. Get them from clearing various missions or redeeming them from “News” after completing certain achievements.
Finally, note that there will be more Dorm slots that will be available! Be sure to fill them with your cute chibi Dorm residents for more Dorm tokens.
