Update-29/12/2021: The new development team acquired by Aniplex from Delightworks has been named ‘Lasengle‘.
Aniplex is going through the process of acquiring the Fate/Grand Order development team from Delightworks. As Aniplex is the publisher of Fate/Grand Order, this means that the game will now be made in-house.
This division of Delightworks will now be split off and become its own company who will continue to work on Fate/Grand Order as a subsidiary of Aniplex. The production of the gacha game will be overseen by Aniplex, Notes (the name of Type Moon’s creative circle), and the new company that this division of Delightworks will become.
An official press release from Aniplex states that:
“As ‘Fate/Grand Order’ enters its seventh year of distribution in July 2015, we will continue to work closely with TYPE-MOON and the new company to ensure that users can continue to enjoy the game.”
The transfer of ownership is expected to be complete by the Spring of 2022.
Delightworks, whose president is former Street Fighter director Yoshinori Ono, will continue to work on other projects as a standalone company. Aside from Fate/Grand Order, they previosly worked on Melty Blood: Type Lumina alongside French Bread, Tiny Metal, and the Sakura Wars mobile game Sakura Revolution, which was shut down in June of this year.
Fate/Grand Order is available for iOS and Android.
