Saber Entertainment has announced they’ll be making Warhammer 40K: Space Marine II, as a surprise reveal at tonight’s The Game Awards.
The game will be releasing exclusively on next gen consoles, coming to PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC, though the game currently has no release date.
Unlike the first Space Marine that had you fighting Orks, Warhammer 40K: Space Marine II will have you fighting the Tyranids, as the trailer shows you doling out Imperial Justice on some unfortunate Swarm Hosts.
Not much actual gameplay was shown, but it looks like it will have more of what fans loved in the original, with a third person shooter that has you simply too powerful to be doing things like hugging knee-high walls.
Warhammer 40k: Space Marine has gained a cult following, having been the only game in the Warhammer 40K license to use a third person perspective amid a sea of strategy games and first-person shooters.
It has you playing as the Ultramarines, the poster boy chapter of Warhammer 40K’s Space Marines. You’ll use iconic weapons such as Bolters and Chainswords to wreak havoc and cut through swarms of Tyranids.
It’s not known where in the timeline of Warhammer 40K this game will take place, since it looks like it will feature the Primaris Space Marines from modern 40K storyline.
