Sword Art Online gets The Black Emperor original story

Sword Art Online: Unleash Blading, previously Sword Art Online: Alicization Rising Steel, is getting an original story, The Black Emperor. (The mobile game was rebranded to Unleash Blading in order to incorporate the Moon Cradle arc)

This was announced recently during the game’s 2nd anniversary live stream. The Black Emperor is a sequel to the Moon Cradle chapter of the Alicization arc and is currently under development.

Alongside the announcement for The Black Emperor, Sword Art Online: Unleash Blading‘s new animated opening was also revealed during the 2nd anniversary live stream. The game’s new opening is Gyakkyо̄ Specter, performed by ASCA and animated by A-1 Pictures. You can watch the opening below:

In other related news, the latest film in the Sword Art Online franchise, Sword Art Online Progressive: Aria of a Starless Night aired in Malaysian theatres last week thanks to fan screenings from GSC Cinemas.

Based on the Sword Art Online Progressive light novels, the film revisits and expands upon the earlier events that took place in the first season of the anime.
