Apple has announced the winners of the 2022 App Store Awards, highlighting the best games and apps across multiple Apple devices along with winners of the Cultural Impact Awards.
To commemorate their achievements, each winner will receive a physical award of the App Store logo set made of 100 percent recycled aluminium.
Here are the winners for Game of the Year for each Apple device:
iPhone Game of the Year – Apex Legends Mobile by Electronic Arts
Apex Legends Mobile is a battle royale game where you can team up with up to two friends or even go solo to compete with other mobile players. Master your roles in team fights and synergize with one another to become the champion of Apex.
iPad Game of the Year – Moncage from X.D. Network Inc
Moncage is a vignette puzzle adventure game taking place inside a mysterious cube where each side of it contains a unique world of their own. Use your imaginations to pinpoint every possible interaction between different sides of the cube to solve these optical illusions puzzles.
Mac Game of the Year – Inscryption from Devolver
Inscryption is a card game that combines roguelike deckbuilding, escape-room style puzzles and psychological horror. Embark on a deeply disturbing odyssey and unlock the secrets lurking behind the wall of Leshy’s cabin.
Apple TV Game of the Year – El Hijo from HandyGames
El Hijo is a stealth game where you will be controlling the boy El Hijo on his quest to find his mother. Use the mischievous and playful qualities of a child and the shadows of the environment to navigate through each stage to bring you a step closer to his mother.
Cultural Impact Awards
Last but not least the two video games that have won the Cultural Impact Awards are as follows:
- Dot’s Home is a 2D narrative video game following a young Black woman as she travels through time to relive key moments in her family’s history where race, place and choice collide.
- Inua – A story in Ice and Time. It is a point and click narrative game based on the real life story of Franklin’s Expedition, a British mission in the 19th century exploring the Arctic that resulted in shipwreck, disease and mutiny.
